In 2024, Creative Soul Studios photographed the groundbreaking ceremony for a Coca-Cola distribution facility in Columbus, Ohio — from the branded details to the ceremonial first shovels.
About the Event
Groundbreakings are short, outdoor and once-in-a-project. There is one chance to get the shovel moment, so the photographer needs a plan for light, angles and the group shot before it starts.
What We Covered
- Branded details: hard hats, ceremonial shovels and Coca-Cola bottles
- Executives and guests breaking ground
- Group photos at the site
- Guests mingling before and after the ceremony
How We Approached the Coverage
We arrived early to photograph the branded details while the site was quiet, scouted angles for the shovel moment, and worked with the organizers to line up the participants. During the ceremony we covered the speakers, the groundbreaking itself from multiple angles and the group photo, then captured guests mingling afterward.

Photographing an Outdoor Groundbreaking
For outdoor ceremonies, we scout the site for sun position and a clean background so the group shot works no matter the weather.
