On-Site vs. Studio Headshots: Which Is Right for Your Team?
Both have their place. Here's how to decide which format makes more sense for your company's headshot session.
The Case for On-Site Sessions
For most corporate clients, on-site headshots are the practical choice. We bring the studio to you — portable lighting, professional backdrop, and the same quality you'd get in a dedicated studio space.
On-site works best when:
- You have 10 or more employees to photograph
- Minimizing workplace disruption is a priority
- Your team is spread across multiple offices (we travel)
- You want to photograph everyone in the same day
The advantages:
- No travel time for employees
- Higher participation rates
- Efficient scheduling (10–15 min per person)
- Consistent results across the whole team
The Case for Studio Sessions
A dedicated studio offers more control — over light, background options, and the environment. For executive portraits where you want the most premium, cinematic result, a studio session is often the better choice.
Studio works best when:
- You're photographing 1–5 executives
- You want multiple background options
- You want a longer, more relaxed session
- The goal is a highly polished, editorial look
What About Hybrid?
Many of our clients do both. We photograph the executive team in-studio for their board materials and investor decks, then come on-site to photograph the broader team for the company website and LinkedIn.
This gives you a consistent visual brand at every level of the organization.
Cost Comparison
On-site sessions are typically more cost-efficient at scale. When you factor in the time cost of 50 employees each traveling to a studio, the math shifts quickly.
Studio sessions are priced per session (not per head), making them the better value for small groups.
